Dustin Hall Wins 4-H Heart Fund 5K Run/Walk

The Middle Island Ramblers 4-H Club held their annual Heart Fund 5K Run/Walk on Tuesday June 9, 2009 with Dustin Hall, a local favorite, coming in as the first runner with a time of 15 min. 32 sec. He was followed by Josh Weekley taking second place overall runner in 17 min. 34 sec. The Heart Fund Run/Walk is a long time community service project of the Middle Island Ramblers 4-H Club and all proceeds go to the American Heart Association. The 5K run/walk had a record number of participants with 106 runners and walkers.

The Heart Fund 5K is made possible by the great financial support of Union Bank and Pleasants County Bank. Also support by local business which donated coupons for door prizes added to the event and these businesses include: Domino’s, Fireside Restaurant, Hall’s Dairyette, McDonald’s, Subway, The Pizza Station, Webb’s Exxon, Wendy’s, and Quinett Court Restaurant of New Martinsville. The 4-H Club would also like to thank David Gaul for the use of St. Marys High School facilities; Mike, Deloris, and Cliff Taylor for preparing the course, starting, and timing the race; Officer Nathan Boron of the St. Marys Police Dept. for monitoring traffic; and thank you to all the participants in the Heart Fund 5K race.
